Swimming lessons

Our swimming is coming to an end, but the children have gained a lot of new skills to take with them this summer and continue using in the lake . It was so much fun!.

Flood Wall Visit

Today we took an adventure into Greymouth (our local town) to explore our protection flood wall. This is our topic focus this term,  as we look into the local history behind the flood wall and its purpose.

The Children enjoyed exploring and learning about the different floods that Greymouth endured over the past years.  We also took the time to walk around and identify the exisiting buildings and streets that were effected by flooding. This was fun!. Where will the next one take us?.

Pizza Week

Pizza Week

Every Friday over the last term,  we have been working with food and creating some yummy cooking. Last week the children decided we would make pizza, so pizza it was. They had to start their pizza by making the base from scratch , this was a fun activity as they got to get their hands messy and sticky. It was great to see them working with the dough and figuring out the ratio of dry to wet ingredients to get the right base constancy. Once the bases were done it was time to create their pizza, add their favourite toppings, cook and eat.

Clay Bird Making!

As part of our Topic,  we have been looking into New Zealand Native Birds. Today the children got messy with the clay, as the created their own birds to display in the classroom. There was a lot of laughter and banter about their chosen clay birds. The most popular bird structure in the classroom was the “little spotted kiwi” .
